Data Privacy

How we handle district data during consulting and custom integration projects.

Custom projects and student data

Consulting engagements often involve connecting district systems, processing student data, or building tools that handle sensitive information. We treat every custom project with the same data privacy standards we apply to our own products.

Before any project begins, we work with your district to define exactly what data will be accessed, how it will be used, and where it will be stored. This is documented in a project scope and, when required, a formal Data Processing Agreement.

Our commitments

01

Scoped access only

We access only the data necessary for the project. Access is defined upfront, documented in the project scope, and does not expand without district approval.

02

No data retention after delivery

Once a project is delivered, any development copies of district data are deleted. Production data remains in systems owned or controlled by the district.

03

No third-party sharing

District data is never shared with, sold to, or accessible by any third party. We do not use district data for training, analytics, or any purpose beyond the contracted project.

04

District ownership

Custom-built software and the data it processes belong to the district. We do not retain proprietary rights to your data or restrict your access to systems we build for you.

05

FERPA compliance

All projects that involve student data are designed with FERPA compliance in mind. We are happy to work with your legal and IT teams to ensure all requirements are met.

Data Processing Agreements

For projects that involve student data or connect to district systems, we are prepared to sign a Data Processing Agreement before work begins. Many districts require this, and we consider it a standard part of the engagement.

Contact us to discuss your project and we will work with your procurement and IT teams to put the right agreements in place.
